Matt Munson

Community Care Director

Matt Munson arrived on staff in September 2009 and currently serves as the Community Care Director. He is over the Valley Family Community Center and the Family Care Center.

Matt operates out of VFCC at 995 Romence, where he is responsible for the coordination of weddings, receptions, rentals, programming, outreach and existing ministries’ usage of VFCC, the Cathedral, and the House.

Matt enters VFC ministry field after having spent the last four years as a stay-at-home dad, which was preceded by a fifteen-year career as a successful collegiate and high school track and field coach.  In addition to coaching, Matt has also served as an educator at Eastern Mennonite University, Columbia University, East Carolina University and Western Michigan University. 

Prior to his coaching career, Matt earned his B.A. in English at Bridgewater College (Va.) and his M.S. in Kinesiology at James Madison University.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys serving as an usher team leader at VFC and is completing his final year in the EPIC School of Ministry.  He enjoys travel, college sports, and cherishes the time he has with his family.  Matt and his wife Colleen have been married for 7 years and have two children, Jacob and Bryn.
